Supporting mental health on the ground
SmartAID partnered with local groups in Afghanistan to deliver essential mental health support to vulnerable women.
By providing telecommunications tools—cell phones, solar-powered battery packs, and data packages—we ensured that local mental health workers could continue offering life-saving care, even in the most challenging circumstances. These communication packages were designed to function without electricity, allowing staff to stay connected with the women who needed them most. With regular updates and guidance, mental health providers delivered ongoing support in Dari and Pashto, reaching women in isolated areas.
After decades of conflict and the current political climate, many women faced deep trauma and distress. SmartAID’s response ensured these women, confined to their homes, could access the vital psychological support they needed. Thanks to your support, we made sure these women were not left behind in their time of crisis.
