Fires in the Palisades: One of the worst disasters in the USA’s history

Fuelled by powerful winds and dry conditions, a series of ferocious wildfires erupted on January 7 and ravaged the Los Angeles area.

Wildfires were sweeping through Los Angeles, forcing families to flee and cutting off essential services. SmartAID was on the ground, working with first responders, local charities, and community leaders to deliver immediate support.

Supporting grassroots charities

To strengthen relief efforts, we expanded our Smart Trailer fleet—mobile hubs equipped with solar power and telecommunication tools. These trailers provided:

  • Electricity, internet, and communication tools for families and responders.
  • Tablets and hardware to help trauma-affected individuals access mental health support.
  • Cold storage and power for medical teams treating evacuees.
  • Connectivity for displaced families to reach loved ones and access critical services.

When the crisis was at its height, we deployed these trailers, helping communities bridge the gap until government services are restored.
